Sun 14/04/2024 Opening Gala
It was lovely to see so many at our Opening Gala today and thankfully, the weather stayed fine, albeit a little cool! Thanks to everyone who helped in any way - donating prizes and organising the Raffle, setting out the equipment for the match and putting it away, setting out tables for tea and cake, making tea, clearing away pots, washing and drying. It was a real team effort! Thank you to Dave Ironman for organising the event and Mark Buet for organising the catering.
Thursday and Saturday Friendly Games
The team sheets for the first four games are up outside , so please add your name if you are available to play.
Monday Night Triples
The teams for the first two Monday night games have been selected and are displayed outside. Please tick next to your name if you are able to play.
Ladies and Gents Cloakrooms
Following a Management Committee decision, in the interests of good hygiene, paper towels have been put in each cloakroom. These can be used instead of cotton towels which need regular laundering by a volunteer. There is also a hot air drier in each cloakroom if members prefer.

OPENING GALA SUNDAY 14TH APRIL
We are all looking forward to welcoming everyone back for our new season on Sunday at 2pm. Hopefully, the weather will be kind to us and we have all remembered how to bowl outdoors??!!! There will be tea/coffee and cake at the end of the match, a raffle and of course, the Bar will be open. Please wear Greys.
We would be very grateful for any raffle prizes on the day.

GAMES NIGHT - WEDNESDAYS 7 -9PM
Now that the nights are lighter, we hope that more members will come and join us on Wednesday Evenings for games, a chat and a drink. Members can play snooker, darts, dominoes, cribbage, Uno and other card games or play Table Tennis.

GREEN RANGER REQUIRED
We need a new member to join our team and help to keep the Green in good order. This involves mowing the green on a rota, once a fortnight. Full training will be given by our Green Keeper, Charlie Riggall. If you are interested to find out more, please contact Charlie on: 07557 057005.

Nobby Cooper League
The Nobby Cooper League will start on April 28th at 10.00.
The list is on the outside notice board for those wishing to play in this event.
There are still spaces for 6 more players, it would be nice to have a full complement of bowlers, so if you are able to play then please look on the notice board or you can call me on 01162242782 or 07583859646. The closing date for entry is 23rd April.
The competition will be played over 10 games, although this figure will reduce if there are fewer players.
OPENING GALA - SUNDAY 14TH APRIL at 2pm
Just a reminder that our Opening Gala will now take place on Sunday 14th April.
We would welcome any help with setting out the equipment and organising refreshments on the day.
We hope that everyone who signed up for the previous date will still be able to attend and if that is the case, there is no need to sign up again.
There may be some people who cannot now attend or who hadn't signed but are now able to come. Please let us know if there is any change to your attendance via email or by amending the list outside the club.

Friday 23rd February at 7pm is Quiz Night! - Entry £2 per person
We hope members will be able to join us for this new event. So far, 7 teams have booked a table and we have plenty of space for more! You don't have to be in a team already and can join others on the night if you wish. Alternatively, you can join in on your own, in a couple or make up a team of up to 6 players maximum.
Topics will include: TV & Films, Sport, Famous People, Music and Around the World.
Hot dogs and vegan burgers will be available at the interval and of course, the Bar will be open.
Cash prize for the winners and a prize for 2nd place!
For catering purposes. if possible, it would be really helpful if members could email to let us know they are coming, but it is not essential.

QUIZ NIGHT - Friday 23rd February - 7pm
We hope you will be able to join us for our first Quiz Night.
Topics will include: TV & Films, Music, Sport, Celebrities and Around the World.
Entry is just £2 per person! Play by yourself, in a couple or in a team of up to 6 maximum.
You can bring your own team with family or friends or join with others on the night!
There will be hot dogs and vegan burgers available at the interval and of course, the Bar will be open. Cash prize for the winners!!!
THE GREEN
The green is our most important asset and we must look after it, one of the reasons we insist on the correct footwear being worn before walking on the green. This is to protect the green, not only from heel marks but from anything that could be carried on footwear that would harm the grass.
The pathways around the green and approaching the club have been sprinkled with rock salt to prevent anyone slipping on ice. However, it is poisonous and will kill the grass. Someone has arrived at the club and, I assume, seen a tennis ball on the green and walked on to retrieve it. There are now distinctive shoe marks across the green and I am fearful the grass will not recover. This damage cannot be rectified until the autumn.
PLEASE do not walk on the green without changing your footwear or at the very least running your shoes under the tap or hosepipe first.

EBC Bowling Club
Information about the upcoming season will be displayed on the notice boards.

Subs Night 8th February.
The closing date for entry into club comps will be 12th May.
The opening gala takes place at 14.00 on April 14th, please enter your names for this event on subs night or check out the notice boards.
The bar will be open, so hopefully there will be a good turnout, a good chance for everyone to renew acquaintances.
The Nobby Cooper league is again being played over 10 games starting10.00 Sunday 28th April.
The sheet for this will be on all notice boards once the season gets underway or you can sign up on subs night. Closing date for entry is 21st April
This will be the inaugural year of a new one day competition the Alan Stapleton Cup. A trophy has been donated to the club by Carol Stapleton and will be played each year. The proposed date will be 30th June. More details later.
There are to be 3 Gala days on bank holidays, 2 in May and 1 in August. They will be played on Bank holiday Mondays. Further detail will be available once the season has started.
Hopefully we are going to have a great season of bowling so enter many of the various comps and galas and lets all enjoy what the upcoming season has to offer.
LIVE MUSIC NIGHT🎶🎸
'Live Music' with the popular local band 'Picky Blinders' - Friday -12th January at 7PM
This a very special event in aid of Prostaid - a local, independent prostate cancer charity formed in 2006. They fund new, innovative treatments,tests and equipment, in addition to providing support and funding 3 nurses.
FREE ENTRY - HOT FOOD AVAILABLE £2.50 - RAFFLE - BAR
The band is not charging for this event and we hope everyone will donate generously to this worthwhile cause.
Charity buckets will be available for donations.
CHARITY 'LIVE' MUSIC NIGHT
What a fantastic night! Great music, delicious food and a real 'party' atmosphere! The dance floor was full and everyone seemed to enjoy themselves. Thanks to all who kindly donated raffle prizes - there were over 40! Overall we raised £345 for Prostaid a local charity for prostate cancer based in Wigston.

All members are respectfully reminded of our no smoking policy in the clubhouse and when on the bowling green.
Anyone smoking/vaping must keep to the confines of the side awning by the outdoor noticeboards, behind the pavilion or on the walkways away from the green.
Please note – Enderby Tennis club have a policy of no smoking on Tennis Club House and grounds. Would all members of Enderby Bowls Club please respect their space.
